This is a perfect size and weight for prepping everyday meals for a small family. I like the compact shape which takes up less counter space and has a little more depth than many other colanders. This added depth helps contain whatever you're washing and tossing without having to worry about things flinging out. I love using it for washing vegetables under the faucet. The open wire feet are also nice for draining pasta in the sink. The open feet allow for free flow to insure that the drained water doesn't dam up and reach the food. I wish the feet were just a bit taller though but it's not a big deal. The quality is well crafted and very sturdy. It's lighter than many other heavy gauge stainless steel colanders, but it doesn't feel flimsy in any way. The finish is a bit more polished than it looks in the photo and is actually very attractive. It's very easy to clean. I wouldn't mind getting this same model in a companion size that is 2-3 quarts larger. Overall, I'm really happy that I upgraded from plastic to stainless steel.
