This Grill is super versatile. There is a bit of a learning curve, but this seems to be able to do pretty much everything!I've been a 50+ year weber grill user, and while this is similar, and much better, there are a couple of things to pay attention to. It is a bit slow to heat, but pay attention, before you hit the target temp, start closing vents. The thick ceramic hold heat, and it will take much longer to bring any temps down. Also, you really need to purchase separately, many important accessories. Yes you can grill out of the box, but I also got the grate divider, to help with 2 stage temp control. Ceramic Heat Reflector Plates are very nice, but then you also need the Roaster Drip Pan Racks. These both help a lot with indirect cooking.So, this is a pretty big investment, but with the versatility, and the heavy Ceramic, you can cook in the winter.Only use lump charcoal, but surprisingly, it is very frugal with the large chunks. When i shut down the vents, [it stays hot] but extinguishes pretty fast, and lots of coals are leftover for the next cook.This is also pretty darn heavy, so prepare for that when setting up.This is 'only' the large, but i think the XL might have been too much.AMS Fireplace, the seller, was very helpful with some issues i had in the beginning.I recommend this Grill!
