I have loved every recipe of Bailey’s that I’ve ever tried and needless to say, I was so excited to receive this cookbook! I have to admit, having purchased other cookbooks before, I was nervous about it being a paperback—how well would it hold up in the kitchen while cooking? Would I have to devise a solution to keeping the book open? However, these concerns disappeared as soon as I opened the book! All of the pages stay open and the book lays flat, too, making the craftsmanship of the book well worth the price.Now, onto the recipes themselves! Bailey’s recipes are, as usual, created from the minimum required and easy-to-find ingredients, making them budget friendly. (I definitely appreciate this, given that I felt my grocery bills growing a lot when starting to eat paleo.) She has included recipes for homemade ghee, broths, and sauces like ketchup and barbecue sauce, so that you can skip the expense of buying “paleo-ified” versions of these from the store, further stretching your grocery budget. She has identified how to make nearly all of the main course recipes freezer friendly.I LOVE that she has included pictures of EVERY recipe! Her photos are beautiful and make me want to try everything in the book as soon as I can! There’s a great mix of foods I have never tried and healthier versions of comforting classics, and knowing how much I’ve enjoyed Bailey’s recipes in the past, I’m excited to try these new recipes while adding versions of classics like pizza meatloaf and classic creamy scalloped potatoes. The cashew chicken and sweet and sour meatballs are SO delicious!With the weather cooling down, all I want is a slow cooker simmering away with recipes that will bring me comfort and warmth, knowing that they are healthy and free from the cream-of-whatever soups that were staples in the slow-cooker recipes in my youth. Thank you Bailey for making this a reality!
